The following problems were apparent during the Maven operations for
updating projects.
Rule:
Create directories within your projects in lower case only and avoid
spaces in directory and filenames.
Explanation:
The Unix convention is to have directory names in lower case. Note that
this condition is explicitly ignored within the CVS itself for certain
CVS files and directories. Also, due to its special nature, the file
LICENSE.txt is exempt from this consideration. This applies to the file
extensions as well.
The Unix convention is to not allow spaces in directory or file names.
Although it is possible to do so, this forces one to quote directories
and files with spaces in the names. This is causing some troubles
within CVS. In lieu of spaces please use an underscore character "_".
Rule:
Please do not create directories or files with CVS or CVSROOT in the
names. This also creates problems during troubleshooting. I realize
this most likely happened inadvertently.
Any projects that would like to refresh or start over with their CVS can
do so very easily. Please contact Ivan or Leslie to arrange a
consultation on what can be done.
