to set the proper locations for outside hyperlinks, database connections, etc.
based on what platform I am on. For example, on epic52, I connect to the “test”
database instance, whereas on epic228, I use “beta.” Rather than hard coding in
the java code, I can use the settings in the properties file so that the ear
file can be pushed to any platform without change. I just need to remember when
we change deployment machines, I have to change that
