  *   New USDA Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Procedure + 2 funding opportunities (Claudia)

  *   Office established in most recent Farm Bill; within USDA/National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS); team made up of detailees from across the country, but plan to hire permanently. Interested in working with EPA and making contacts with EPA HQ and regional staff.
  *   Goals/projects include grants/cooperative agreements (see below), creation of a Federal Advisory Committee, and developing 10 urban/suburban committees.

        *   UAIP supports the development of urban agriculture and innovative production activities by funding Planning Projects (PP) and Implementation Projects (IP) led by nonprofit organizations, local or Tribal governments, and schools that serve any of the grades K-12 in areas of the United States.

        *   CCFWR specifically provides assistance through cooperative agreement to municipalities, counties, local governments, or city planners. $900K to give out ($45-$90K in 10 states).
        *   Projects don't have to be about composting; can be related to reducing food waste.
        *   Tribal governments are not eligible to receive an award but may participate as a partner on a CCFWR Project. Priority will be given to an applicant that collaborates with multiple partners (2 or more) on their CCFWR pilot project. The eligible entity is responsible for receiving and managing the award and may partner with non-eligible entities to achieve its proposed project objectives.
