Florida Recycling Leaders,

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is joining the Florida Recycling Partnership to promote recycling during this year's Florida Recycles Week, November 9-15. Recycling activities will kick off with a webinar at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, with opening comments from DEP Secretary Noah Valenstein and Florida Recycling Partnership Chair Dawn McCormick.

DEP will announce Recycling Recognition Award winners, and the recycling partnership will announce its Recycling Champion Award winners. Register<https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/8403074100791394317> now to attend the free event.

Each day of Florida Recycles Week 2020 will have its own theme that encourages and educates people on the proper way to recycle, leading up to America Recycles Day on Sunday, Nov. 15.

DAILY THEMES TO PROMOTE:
* "You Can Recycle Right" (Nov. 9) - What are the right items to place in curbside recycle containers: plastic bottles and jugs, aluminum and steel cans, paper and cardboard. Presentation by Waste Management.
* "Recyclable but Not Curbside" (Nov. 10) - Items such as plastic bags and packaging film can't be recycled at curbside, but certain stores have collection bins for these items. Also, tips for donating clothing and shoes. Presentation by the Florida Goodwill Association and Wrap Recycling Action Program (WRAP).
* "Recycle on the Go" (Nov. 11) - Look for recycling containers while on the road. If you can't find a recycling bin while traveling, make sure to have a bag in your car so you can take your plastic bottles and aluminum cans home and recycle them. Presentation by Wawa.
* "Buy Recycled" (Nov. 12) - Look for items made with recycled content when you make your purchases. Presentation by the Florida Recycling Partnership and SWIX.
* "Every Bottle Back" (Nov. 13) - Recycling bottles is more important than ever. Presentation by Florida Beverage Association.

  * "Food Waste" (Nov. 14) - How to reduce, reuse and recycle food items. Presentation by Department of Environmental Protection.

  * "Take the Pledge" It's America Recycles Day! (Nov. 15) - Visit FloridaRecycles.org to take the pledge.
Please share the attached fliers with your partners and the public to promote Florida Recycles Week and America Recycles Day. And help us spread the word about what to recycle. Look for a list of social media posts based on the week's daily themes on FloridaRecycles.org<https://floridarecycles.org/> that you can download for use during Florida Recycles Week.
