CONNECT WITH MORE HOUSEHOLDS
Now Available: Free Multifamily Recycling Guide & Community Toolkit

With more than 22 million U.S. households calling multifamily buildings home, communities need strategies to help them reach beyond single-family homes.

Multifamily recycling<https://recyclingpartnership.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e83197e33007df6b4ecffd54f&id=1436d0f9a7&e=c7f19bc027> streams are a valuable, yet often overlooked, opportunity to unlock valuable supply for the circular economy and create more equitable recycling access. There has never been a better time to reach, inspire, educate, and engage multifamily residents and properties about recycling.

Whether your community is just getting started in engaging multifamily residents or searching for new tools and resources, our free Multifamily Recycling Guide and Community Toolkit<https://recyclingpartnership.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e83197e33007df6b4ecffd54f&id=c0e825400b&e=c7f19bc027> provides tested best practices and free educational resources to customize and leverage your program.

HAVE YOUR SAY
Open for Public Comment: The Recycling Partnership's Pathway to Circularity Recyclability Framework

The Recycling Partnership recently opened its Pathway to Circularity Recyclability Framework for public comment, a first-of-its-kind opportunity for the entire recycling value chain to shape the future of recyclability. The Framework defines a clear set of criteria to help companies determine if their packaging can navigate the recycling system, and the appropriate actions to drive us toward a more sustainable and circular economy for all materials. The Framework opened for comment on August 19 and closes on September 17. Collected feedback will be used to build upon the existing Framework<https://recyclingpartnership.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e83197e33007df6b4ecffd54f&id=7905710654&e=c7f19bc027>, and will ultimately serve as a common foundation to advancing the system and inform sustainable packaging design.

Now is your chance to provide input and feedback on this groundbreaking process. Join us for an educational webinar<https://recyclingpartnership.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e83197e33007df6b4ecffd54f&id=9fa080572a&e=c7f19bc027> on September 2 to review the Framework in more detail and the process to provide input, as well as ask any questions.

CELEBRATE SUCCESS
City of Grand Rapids Recognized as Resource Recycling's 2021 Program of the Year

The City of Grand Rapids, Michigan has been honored for its recent work to significantly limit recycling contamination and boost its recycling program, earning Resource Recycling’s inaugural Program of the Year Award at the 2021 Resource Recycling Conference.

Last fall, the City partnered with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and The Recycling Partnership to implement The Partnerships’ nationally acclaimed Feet on the Street recycling cart-tagging program.

As a result, the City of more than 50,000 households decreased recycling contamination by 37% to an all-time low of 7.4% and boosted its residential recycling program, increasing tonnage and participation.

EXPAND POLYPROPYLENE RECYCLING
$4.2 Million in Grants Has Improved Polypropylene Curbside Recycling for Nearly 15 Million Americans

The Recycling Partnership’s Polypropylene Coalition recently celebrated its one-year anniversary and announced another round of grants, approximately $1.8 million to six materials recovery facilities (MFRs) to boost polypropylene sortation and support targeted consumer education efforts.

The Coalition’s first-year efforts have increased curbside polypropylene recycling access for an additional 6% of U.S. households. This impacts nearly 15 million Americans through grants to 13 facilities totaling nearly $4.2 million to date, resulting in the recovery of a larger supply of polypropylene that could be made into new products such as consumer packaging and automotive parts.

Learn more about where these grantees are located and ask your local MRF if your community could be next. The next round of request for proposals (RFPs)<https://recyclingpartnership.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e83197e33007df6b4ecffd54f&id=ea79188fab&e=c7f19bc027> is due September 30, 2021.
