The Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Source Water =

Scope of work will primarily focus on collection of GPS data for DEP =

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Florida =
Driver's
License. Ability to maintain and operate a vehicle and travel for =
extended
periods of time. This is a field position that requires extensive =
travel, use
of GPS and field computers, and the ability to interpret maps, including =
GIS
formats and aerial photographs.  Minimal on-the-job training may be =
provided.


OTHER:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a =
major in
one of the physical or natural sciences or engineering. Professional
experience in environmental protection, regulation or health is =
preferred.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES: Identification and location of DEP =
Division
of Waste Management sites and facilities with differentially corrected =
GPS. =20

Acquisition and transfer of existing data and manipulation of spread =
sheets.

Location of Monitor wells in and around DEP regulated sites and =
facilities.

Research and reconnaissance of historical sites possible.

Knowledge and experience using differentially corrected global =
positioning
systems=20

(GPS) is preferred. Knowledge and experience using software including
Microsoft Office products is required. The ability to navigate using =
maps is
required. The successful applicant must have very good interpersonal =
skills
and be able and willing to communicate effectively either verbally or in
writing with staff, other government agencies, site and facility =
personnel,
and the general public. Extensive daily travel may be required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND CONSIDERATIONS:

The nature of this work will be field intensive and will require driving =
for
all field activities.  Applicants must be physically fit, tolerant of =
weather
extremes, and able to work alone. They will need to have a good sense of
direction and be able to plan efficient routes on a daily basis for =
optimal
data collection.=20

Applicants will need to demonstrate basic knowledge of mapping elements =
and
interpretation of vector and raster based data. Applicants are preferred =
to
have experience using Survey Grade Differential GPS. Ex. Trimble, =
Starlink,
Ashtech.

They must be computer literate: Minimal ability in the use of
ArcMap/View/Info, Excel, Access and Outlook. OPS personnel will be =
further
trained in the use of GPS equipment, field computers, and applications =
that
will be used to acquire and transfer coordinate data to DEP Tallahassee, =
as
well as time management and efficient field planning.

**NOTE: OPS (OTHER PERSONAL SERVICES) OPS employment is normally, but =
not
always short term, temporary service. OPS employees are not eligible for
