Hi, there's been a lot of emails shooting back and forth between =
BIS/GIS,
DWRM GIS, and District folks regarding the new 2003 Vegetation and Land =
Cover
Data recently released by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission.

BIS/GIS will have this data layer available next week through DataMiner.

But I wanted to make sure folks are familiar with this layer so that =
there
are no misconceptions about what the layer is...

*	This is a raster layer with a resolution of 30m x 30m pixels (based
upon satellite imagery), so this is not a replacement or an update for =
the
landuse/land cover data layers created by the Water Management Districts
(which is vector data digitized at a scale of 1:24,000 and is based upon
aerial photos).=20

*	This layer is an update to the Habitat Imagery layer currently
available within DataMiner under the Imagery tab.

*	As raster data, this layer will have limited use to most GIS users--
GIS analysts may use extensions like ImageAnalyst and tools available =
within
ArcGIS to conduct analyses, like change detection within a county from
Grassland to Low Impact Urban.

*	For most GIS users, the layer will simply represent a pretty
background when making maps of very large areas (i.e. counties and
districts).

For more information on the layer, please see
