gis-l: New Datasets in ArcSDE Beta

GIS Users,

The following EPA datasets have been newly inserted in ArcSDE Beta (test
instance).

ArcSDE Beta Name: Dep.epa_npl_sites_2005

This is an updated version of the dataset currently in ArcSDE/DataMiner. The
NPL is the list of national priorities among the known releases or threatened
releases of hazardous substances, pollutants, or contaminants throughout the
United States and its territories.The facilities included in the NPL are
eligible for extensive, long-term cleanup under the Superfund (CERCLIS)
program. The facilities in this NPL dataset are in the final NPL list and are
current as of October 2005. There are 50 records in this dataset.

ArcSDE Beta Name: Dep.epa_tri_2005

This is an updated version of the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) sites
currently in ArcSDE/DataMiner. The TRI database contains data on annual
estimated releases of over 300 toxic chemicals to air, water, and land by the
manufacturing industry. This file shows locational and other information
about facilities. This information pertains to the year 2002 and was released
in 2003. This layer has 1305 records.
ArcSDE Beta Name: Dep.epa_water_quality_data_2005
This point dataset contains water quality data obtained from the
Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) STORET database. STORET (short for
STOrage and RETrieval) is a repository for water quality, biological, and
physical data and is used by state environmental agencies, EPA and other
federal agencies, universities, private citizens, and many others. This layer
has 31484 records.
All these datasets will be uploaded in the ArcSDE Production instance in a
month's time. Users are given this time to view these data in the test
instance so that they can familiarise themselves with the new
attributes/fields which are present in these new EPA data releases. The names
for these layers in ArcSDE Production will be the same 
as before. For eg; Dep.epa_npl_sites_2005 will be Dep.epa_npl_sites. Enclosed
are the symbology (.lyr) files for these above mentioned datasets.
