GIS Users,
The following are two new additions to the FDEP GIS Library obtained from the
Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI, formerly FMRI) .
ArcSDE Name: BASE.MARINE_FACILITIES
DataMiner/DataCatalog Name: Marine Facilities
This dataset shows the locations of marine facilities around Florida.
Attributes include type of facility and location (address). This layer can be
accessed via the FMRI tab in DataMiner and is under the 'Oceans & Estuaries'
and 'Transportation' category in DataCatalog.
This above mentioned layer is the most updated GIS dataset published by FWRI
regarding marine facilties and is the replacement layer for the following
existing ArcSDE, DataMiner and DataCatalog layer:
ArcSDE Name: BASE.MARINAS
DataMiner/DataCatalog Name: Marinas
This older layer will be deleted on April 30th from DataMiner and DataCatalog
and subsequently from ArcSDE. Users are noted to use the newer Marine
Facilities layer instead, and also to update their projects if needed.
ArcSDE Name: DEP.COAST_GUARD_AIDS_TO_NAV_2007
DataMiner/DataCatalog Name: US Coast Guard Aids to Navigation 2007
This GIS data set represents the aids to navigation (ATONs) for the Seventh
and Eighth Coast Guard Districts. The term "aids to navigation" refers to
devices outside of a vessel that are used to assist mariners in determining
their position, safe course or warn them of obstructions. Aids to navigation
include light buoys and beacons. This data set includes federal aids, which
are installed and maintained by the Coast Guard, as well as some privately
maintained aids. This layer can be accessed via the FMRI tab in DataMiner and
is under the 'Oceans & Estuaries' and 'Transportation' category in
DataCatalog.
Thanks
