GIS Users,
The following FMRI layers have been newly introduced in ArcSDE, DataMiner and
DataCatalog:

ArcSDE Name: DEP.FLORIDA_BLACK_BEAR_RANGE
DataCatalog/DataMiner Name: Florida Black Bear Range
This layer contains a range map of the Florida Black Bear created in 2004 and
updated in 2005, 2007, and 2008. The range map was created by the Florida
Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. This layer is available in the
'Biology & Ecology" category in DataCatalog and is under the 'FMRI" tab in
DataMiner.

ArcSDE Name: DEP.FLORIDA_MANGROVES
DataCatalog/DataMiner Name: Florida Mangroves
This layer represents mangroves in Florida reselected from land use and land
cover data from Florida's water management districts.
This layer is available in the 'Biology & Ecology" and "Land Cover"
categories in DataCatalog and is under the "FMRI" tab in DataMiner.

ArcSDE Name: DEP.PANTHER_HABITAT_ZONES
DataCatalog/DataMiner Name: Panther Habitat Zones
Panther habitat zones were developed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service's
panther sub-team of Multi-Species/Ecosystem Recovery Implementation Team
(MERIT). Members of the MERIT panther recovery sub-team identified lands
essential to the long-term survival of the Florida panther. This layer is
available in the 'Biology & Ecology" and "Land Cover" categories in
DataCatalog and is under the "FMRI" tab in DataMiner.

ArcSDE Name: DEP.SALT_MARSHES
DataCatalog/DataMiner Name: Salt Marshes
This GIS data set represents the saltwater marsh areas in Florida. The data
are a compilation of available land use and land cover information mapped by
Florida's water management districts. The most recent data available as of
April 2008 is used, this ranges from photography dates between 1994 and 2006.
This layer is available in the 'Biology & Ecology" and "Land Cover"
categories in DataCatalog and is under the "FMRI" tab in DataMiner.

ArcSDE Name: DEP.TIDAL_FLATS
DataCatalog/DataMiner Name: Tidal Flats
This GIS data set represents the tidal flat habitat type reselected from the
fl_veg03 data set (2003). Tidal flats are sand or mud areas found in many
estuarine areas and typically lack recognizable plant life. They are neither
terrestrial nor aquatic but fall somewhere in between (ecotone) and are
harsh, unpredictable environments. This layer is available in the 'Biology &
Ecology" category in DataCatalog and is under the 'FMRI" tab in DataMiner.

ArcSDE Name: DEP.TURTLE_NESTING_BEACHES
DataCatalog/DataMiner Name: Turtle Nesting Beaches
The State of Florida, through the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission's Florida Marine Research Institute, coordinates the Statewide
Nesting Beach Survey program (SNBS). The SNBS was initiated in 1979 under a
cooperative agreement between FWC (then DNR) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service. Its purpose is to document the total distribution, seasonality, and
abundance of nesting by sea turtles in Florida. Three species of sea turtles,
the loggerhead (Caretta caretta), the green turtle (Chelonia mydas), and the
leatherback (Dermochelys coriacea), nest regularly on Florida's beaches. This
layer is available in the 'Biology & Ecology" category in DataCatalog and is
under the 'FMRI" tab in DataMiner.

Thanks,
