Danny Clayton (Program Administrator), Sherrie Mendelson (web graphics) and Sara Wander (GIS) who work in the Florida Coastal Management Program within FDEP’s Office of Intergovernmental programs have worked with Gary Kekelis and Aparna Bokey to create a Coastal Management Beach Access Focus within Map Direct. The Sara has provided the following application description; <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-left:.5in'><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>The Florida Coastal Management Program is developing an</span> <span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>interactive, web-based beach access guide that details the locations and amenities of sandy beach access points for the entire state. The aim of this access guide is to provide residents and visitors with coastal recreation opportunities. This data is collected during fieldwork by utilizing a global positioning system, and entering in all amenity attributes </span>for<span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'> each access site into a geodatabase on ArcGIS. The final product of this project will include an informational website with information about each county, which includes links to the map direct focus for a user friendly, interactive approach to finding beach access locations. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Q. What kind of changes can we expect from FDEP’s enterprise GIS in the coming months?<o:p></o:p></span></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>A. Testing includes installation on a newer, stronger, faster server.
