How may I fix this?<o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>Answer: </b>One of the most likely causes of this error is that the name or the location of the source of the layer has changed and applying the appropriate fix will depend on whether the data was accessed through Data Miner or through some other source.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Data miner sourced - SDE library layers do, however rarely, change name. This event is accompanied by a gis-l stating the change. The fix requires deleting the layer from ArcMap’s table of contents and re-adding from data miner or SDE connection. This may also be repaired by following the other sourced fix below but requires that you know the location of the layer on the department’s production SDE instance.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Other sourced – Right click on the layer in the ArcMap table of contents and select Properties and then the “Source” tab of the Layer Properties dialog box. Then, select the “Set Data Source…” button. In the subsequent dialog box, navigate to the source data’s correct location and hit the “Add” button and then “OK” or “Apply” on the Layer Properties dialog box.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><o:p> </o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><o:p> </o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>Question: More and more <a href="http://lidar.cr.usgs.gov/index.php">liDAR</a> data is becoming available within the State, how may I access this information?<o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>Answer: </b>liDAR data is available in several different forms. One form of the “raw” data often referred to as point cloud information is very large on disk and requires specialized software to interpret, analyze and display the information. Products derived from raw lidar data such as Digital Elevation or Digital terrain models and contours of elevation may be used with ArcGIS desktop software. One good place to start your search for locally (Florida) available products is through the Division of Emergency Management’s LiDAR data distribution inventory site at <a href="http://www.floridadisaster.org/gis/lidar/">http://www.floridadisaster.org/gis/lidar/</a> <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>If your program area has a requirement for LiDAR data to be available to you via DEP’s network (SDE, Data Miner) and you haven’t yet discussed this with OTIS/GIS, please do send an email to <a href="mailto:GIS_Systems@dep.state.fl.us">GIS_Systems@dep.state.fl.us</a> We are performing a needs assessment and would like to more completely capture program requirements of these datasets.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>More 2011-2012 Aerial Imagery Counties coming on line soon<o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal>Flagler, Osceola, Clay and a portion of Sumter county that was previously not available should be added to the 2011 service on DataMiner/SDE next Tuesday, April 10.<b><o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><o:p> </o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><o:p> </o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>New Map Direct Functionality<o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoListParagraph style='text-indent:-.25in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><![if !supportLists]><span style='font-family:Symbol'><span style='mso-list:Ignore'>·<span style='font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"'> </span></span></span><![endif]>The existing <b>print to pdf tool</b> has been improved so that an exported .pdf document honors layer transparency settings made in the Map Direct view. Consider the following example (Thanks to Gary Kekelis for providing); The attached <b>nhdOpaque.pdf</b> document shows the National Hydrographic Dataset superimposed on aerial imagery in the area of McGinnis’Arm of Lake Jackson north of Tallahassee. The <b>nhdTrans.pdf</b> shows the same information with the transparency settings for fills altered so that the NHD is transparent. Note, the transparency slider tool may be found in the bottom left of the Map Direct map view (magenta box in graphic below showing LandUse/Land Cover superimposed over imagery).<b><o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><o:p> </o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><b> <img alt="cid:image002.png@01CD134D.F69F3190" border=0 height=616 id="_x0000_i1026" src="cid:image004.jpg@01CD13E6.AAD0AA20" width=828><o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><o:p> </o:p></b></p><p class=MsoListParagraph style='text-indent:-.25in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><![if !supportLists]><span style='font-family:Symbol'><span style='mso-list:Ignore'>·<span style='font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"'> </span></span></span><![endif]>The Division of Waste (Charlie Goddard, Lee Martin, Chris Williams and Casey Taylor) has worked with Gary Kekelis to create a <b>new focus</b> that allows a user to view <b>solid waste site monitoring well contaminant levels displayed over time. </b>This is accomplished through the creation of a tool that allows users to filter analytical results by site ID and analyte and see monitoring well locations symbolized by factors above contaminant level for a single chosen analyte. By clicking on a next event button, a query produces symbolized results for the next sampling event in time. In turn, the email recipient can paste the web link to their browser of choice and see the same map that the originator has created.
