We maintain a knowledge base for questions and requests that are specific to our infrastructure and can many times provide an answer very quickly. From time to time however we encounter an issue that requires the insight of the developers who wrote the application, license agreement administrators or other ESRI staff. In these cases, we open a service request with ESRI and can get you connected directly with ESRI as soon as they reply (sometimes there is a delay caused by the difference in Eastern Standard Time and Pacific Coast Time where ESRI is based).

Question: Where are you?

Answer: We’ve been asked this far more than any one other question. This survey was designed to determine the state’s needs of LiDAR based elevation products for the purpose of developing a national program to create GIS data products like higher resolution Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), contours of elevation, etc. Survey respondents contributed to a successful outcome for Florida. Of the 50 states in the nation, Florida was ranked highest, along with California in terms of priority of needs. The hope is that this will lead to improved elevation products for Florida sooner rather than later helping many others employed in environmental protection, emergency management, water supply, climate studies, fisheries and wildlife management, forestry, transportation and other industries.
