My name is Juan Ortiz, Juan Hernando Bautista or John Shaffer. Pick one.
They're all characters! I've been interpreting as a volunteer with the
Florida Park Service for about ten years and have been working at Mission
San Luis for about nine years. My wife Jackie and I have interpreted at
several parks around this state and a couple of others. We demonstrate a
long list of colonial skills and have a growing line-up of farm animals.
Soon we will be able to put a set of working oxen (Florida cracker steers)
on the road for what ever function may be needed. I have a substantial
collection of 16th c. and on weapons and armor and tools. We do story
telling, baking (with a wood fired oven), textile arts, shoe making, black
powder demos, etc. We're busy, but will squeeze you in when we can.
