If you have knowledge and interest in interpreting the 16th century
Apalachee, Spanish explorers, or other appropriate personas, we need =
you.
The annual De Soto Winter Encampment will be held January 12 - 15, 2005. =
As
brief background:
In 1539 Hernando de Soto landed a small army in Florida and
began a journey of exploration and discovery through much of the =
southeast --
a journey which led to the establishment of a winter encampment in =
Anhaica,
the center of Apalachee Indian culture. The De Soto Site holds an annual
event each January, providing interpretation for school children during =
the
week, and to the general public on the weekend.=20
If you are interested in becoming an interpreter at this distinctive =
event,
please contact me at your earliest convenience -- it is never too soon =
to
make plans.=20
Thanks,
Katheryn
