SETAC's ( http://www.setac.org/baltimore/baltimore.html ) having their's
the same week, however. And, they'll be discussing/presenting data and
studies surrounding similar issues. Wish the two entities had gotten
their conferences combined.

WWTPs and Potential Impact on Biosolids=20
November 17, 2005

The Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association's Biosolids Committee
will be sponsoring a seminar on Issues with Endocrine Disrupters
Compounds (EDCs) and Other Emerging Pollutants. The presentations will
focus on why do we need to look at EDCs?, concentrations of EDCs in
wastewater influent and effluent in the environment, potential EDCs
health effects on fish and wildlife, WWTP removal rates by various
processes, concentration of EDCs in wastewater biosolids, and survival
of EDCs in the composting process In addition we have scheduled
nationally recognized experts and researchers from government agencies
and universities with the latest information on EDCs to give
presentations.=20

Those invited to attend:

Dr. Todd Harris, MWRD	EDCS Issues in Colorado - Why do we need to look
at
EDCs?
Dr, Jorge Drewes, Colorado School of Mines, WERF Project Officer on
recent
EDC study	New Research Directions on EDCs and other Synthetic
Compounds
Dr. Dave Quanrud, University of Arizona	EDCs in secondary effluent -
what is
the potential impact on land application and reuse programs?=20
Dr. Mike Norris, University of Colorado-Boulder	EDC concentration
upstream
and downstream of WWTP discharges and potential health effects on fish
and wildlife
Dr. Bob Arnold, University of Arizona	Mass Balance of EDCs in
wastewater
and biosolids at the Roger and Ina Road WWTPs in Tucson, AZ
Ed Furlong and Tracy Yager, USGS	Survival of EDCs in the
Composting
Process
