The Indiana Department of Environmental Management recently approved
pharmaceuticals and sharps as eligible for funding through the Indiana
HHW grant program. Final grant applications are due July 27 and I
expect a number of applications for pharmaceutical collection programs.

here in Iowa SF 579 was passed and signed by the governor in May. It
directs us to spend $225,000 on a 1 year pilot project to collect
pharmaceuticals. Here's a link to the legislation.

LD 411

"An Act To Establish a Pilot Program for Return of Unused Prescription
Drugs by Mail"

Sponsored by Representative Anne Perry

This represents the first actual funding by a state for unused
medication returns by my reckoning. I believe at present California and
Mass ( had their hearing this week) are the other two states with active
legislation this session, are there any others?
