We use fund from our EPA Pollution Prevention Grant to pay for our proper disposal of medication program which issues $1,000 grants to law enforcement agencies to install medication collection bins. You can learn all about it at:

We are compiling data for the National Directory of Drug Take-Back and
Disposal Programs. So far, we know of only 3 programs that are funded
directly or indirectly by the U.S. EPA.
1. Maine Safe Disposal Program--pilot study; PI: Len Kaye
2. Regional Express Medication Disposal Service (RxMeds)--Contact person
Sterling Hayden (ARCHS)
3. Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant Disposal of Unwanted Medicines Program--Susan
Boehme
Other organizations and programs only indicated that grants are supporting
the take-back programs but did not mention the source. The National
Directory will be officially presented at the Maine Conference, Nov 10,
2008.

Our county is looking at that as well. Any information would be
appreciated on structuring a program and the cost of funding that endeavor.

Hello,
I'm trying to gather information on funding for pharmaceutical take-back
programs. Can anyone tell me which programs have received EPA grants or
other funding sources?
Thank you,
Evin Guy
