[Pharmwaste] Re: Pharmwaste Digest, Vol 54, Issue 19

This is in response to the Scout doing a take back program. I am
researching this issue now and I will let you know what I come up with. As
far as I know now: If you have law enforcement that are participating in
the program you may have an out. Here in Idaho we have a certified
incinerator in the next state (UTAH). When a take back program is run the
law enforcement is there to collect the medication. He/she then puts the
medication into the car and drives it across state line (about 400 mile) to
the incinerator. The law enforcement officer then monitors the medication
while it burns and then drives home. Quite convoluted, but right now there
are not many options. If you found a law enforcement officer to volunteer
this may work for you.

I am in the process of studying take-back programs around the world, to come
up with some effective options. I will let you know if I find out anything
else.

Good luck, I hope you find a way to accomplish the goals.
