[Pharmwaste] National Pharmaceutical Take-Back Day on November 13??

Putnam County NY is planning to hold a collection event on that day.  We
held our fist one last month, and it was very well received.  Putnam is
part of a seven county region in the lower Hudson Valley, and I have
passed along the information to our regional solid waste council members
in the hope that at least some of the other six counties might choose
that day for an event.  I think the more localities that participate,
the greater the awareness will be.

I am involved with a collaborative effort to plan and conduct a
single-day, coordinated drug take-back event at a location within each
state in the Potomac River Basin.  We noticed an earlier posting about
November 13 being a National Pharmaceutical Take-Back Day.  Upon
researching the issue, Operation Medicine Cabinet in New Jersey
(www.operationmedicinecabinetnj.org) is spearheading this and while is
being touted as a "National" event (www.americanmedicinechest.org), it
seems to be focused on New Jersey.


We are aware of a locality here in PA that is interested and have heard
that at least one place in Florida may be participating.

We are curious if any other states/localities are participating in this
event and if it is truly a national effort.

Any insight/info would be appreciated.
