[Pharmwaste] Weight and waste

Hi Everyone,

I have just finished reviewing CMS proposed rule (42 CFR 423), including the provisions for short fill initial prescriptions. Congratulations to all of us who have worked to get the short fill concept proposed!  Whoo hoo!

Re: the rules--I think CMS does a good job with its cost justification.  However, I would like to include a waste reduction analysis, albeit a rough one.

Does anyone have the weight of a 30 day supply of oral medications, either in the bottle or not?  If you have the weight of a few different dosage forms such as 100 mg, 250 and say 500 mg, that would be even more helpful.

Short timeline.  Comments are due Monday.
