7041 lbs. of unused/unwanted drugs collected recently by 
Yellow Jug Old Drugs Program

             Yellow Jug Old Drugs is a program that works in partnership with local pharmacies to collect and properly 
dispose of unwanted/unused drugs in a safe and approved manner to help keep our water clean.
During the recent quarterly collection at participating pharmacies in Michigan, the Yellow Jug Old Drugs program collected 7041 lbs. of unused/unwanted drugs. The program started was started by Great Lakes Clean Water, a non-profit organization in May 2009.  A total of 33,353 lbs. has been collected to date. 
Currently there are 220 pharmacies participating in Michigan.  Beginning in 2012 the program will be available in Illinois and Wisconsin.  To find a participating pharmacy in your area go to www.greatlakescleanwater.org  or call 989-736-8179
The Yellow Jug Old Drugs program accepts non-controlled drugs only at pharmacies. Participating pharmacies have a complete list of accepted/not accepted items and can help customers with any questions they may have.
	Program support in Michigan has been provided by local pharmacies, United Water, Consumers Energy Foundation, Detroit Renewable Power, SSCENT, Community Foundation of Northeast Michigan, Northern Michigan Substance Abuse Services, Barry County Substance Abuse Task Force, Missaukee County Soil Conservation District, Gratiot County Solid Waste Authority and Ten Sixteen Recovery Network.
