In In 2012, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) partnered with Great Lakes Clean Water Organization to increase public awareness about proper drug disposal. To educate people about the emerging concerns related to drugs in our environment, they produced the first ever documentary on pharmaceuticals in the environment titled The Yellow Jugs Old Drugs Program, A Solution to the Emerging Issue of Pharmaceutical Compounds in Ground, Surface and Municipal Water. The documentary provides viewers with an overview of the problems associated with drugs in our environmental and includes footage with MDEQ Deputy Director Jim Sygo, Michigan Pharmacists Association CEQ Larry Wagenknecht, and others. To learn more, view the documentary on WTVS - Detroit on December 5, 2013 at 5:30; December 30, 2013 at 11:30 pm; January 2, 2014 at 4 pm; or on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oy4zgVtNPbo&feature=share&list=FL0hI_MiIFrdXFMeU2Hb5aEA.
