[Pharmwaste] To: Participants of DEA National Take-Back Initiatives

We’ve done three take-back days in Duxbury, MA. The DEA did not require any information from us whatsoever. We had an officer deliver the bags to the agent at a designated time and place. This past fall, however, the communication was pretty poor. The DEA agent showed up at the police station where we weren’t (we were at our Senior Center) and no one in the station was made aware of that. The police had to take custody of the drugs until they could arrange for the agent to pick them up.

We are resolving this issue by putting in a drug kiosk in the lobby of our new police station opening next month.

Subject: [Pharmwaste] To: Participants of DEA National Take-Back Initiatives

Hi All,

Did you participate in one or more of the DEA National Take-Back Initiatives? If so, did the DEA require that you report the number of pounds collected? What about the number of participants? If you were involved in more that one collection location, did they require separate data from each or was a total from all your sites acceptable?

The reply to my Freedom of Information Act request for this data was that the DEA did not require participants to provide this information. If that is not true, I will submit an appeal. Please let me know.
