Rhode Island is working on legislation to handle the Human waste containing
Chemotherapy drugs at the hospital and at home. I am attaching a copy of the
bill.

A pharm waste product stewardship bill (SB 1014) was introduced in
California (Feb. 13) but didn't make it out of committee(s) and had the
stewardship elements removed and replaced with language
<http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/13-14/bill/sen/sb_1001-1050/sb_1014_bill_2014
0610_amended_asm_v95.pdf> that our agency would create regulations out of
our voluntary model guidelines
<http://www.calrecycle.ca.gov/HomeHazWaste/Medications/ModelProgram/Criteria
.pdf> (which sunset Jan. 1, 2013). The bill will be heard in the
Environmental and Toxics Safety Committee (ESTM) committee next Tuesday at
1:30 <http://www.calchannel.com/live-webcast/> and again in the Business
and Professions Committee Tuesday the 24th.

Has any other state enacted regulations surrounding home-generated
pharmaceutical waste? For instance, anything determining how it is handled
- more like medical waste vs. a type of universal waste for instance?

I forgot to mention that a pharm waste product stewardship bill was
introduced (Jan 8) for the second year in a row to the NYS Senate.
http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/S642-2013

I suspect the timing of this campaign is not a coincidence. If phara really
cared about safe disposal why is their campaign only in NY?

Is your state considering a pharm waste product stewardship bill? Has
pharma launched a safe disposal campaign in your state? Let's see if there
is a correlation!

Pharma has launched a safe disposal campaign in NY.

The video they produced emphasizes home disposal.

Their website FAQ properly suggests home disposal as the last choice if
take-back programs are not available.

Found no mention of the upcoming DEA rules.

I haven't checked out the social media component of the campaign.
