[Pharmwaste] 5 States still not Participating?

Myself and one other staff person from MPCA helped the Board write legislation. We had, in my personal opinion, a really lame session last year, they just didn't get to it. I contacted the Board last week to see if they needed me to testify and they said it was going along fine, no need. Sheriff Stanek has been a great supporter as well. We see no problem with it passing this year.

Happy Friday!

Subject: [Pharmwaste] 5 States still not Participating?

Dear Pretreatment & PharmWaste folks,

Are there any updates to this list of States not participating in the DEA rule that lets pharmacies become take back locations for unwanted pharmaceuticals? AK, CT, HI, MN, MO, MS, & NH

If you live in one of them, please consider speaking with your Sheriff/Health Dept./Legislator/Governor, etc. about getting your State to participate. Pharmacies are the most convenient take back locations. The more convenient take back is, the less of these emerging contaminants will be flushed or put in the trash (or illegally diverted, or end up causing an accidental OD!). Thanks!

Seems there is movement in MN. The president of the MN Sheriff's Assoc. is calling on State to let pharmacies do take back:

MN is ahead of the curve in other ways:

Live in MN? Please add your voice to Sheriff Stanek's!
