Dear Supporters of Ending the FDA's "Flush List":

Today we updated the letter to address it to the new commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Robert Califf and sent the email below.

We still do not have a response of any significance as I state in the email.  We will let you know if we receive any further communications.  If we don't hear more soon, we will likely begin more active campaigns to make this a higher priority within the FDA.

Dear Commissioner Califf:

First, congratulations on taking over at the FDA.  It is a big job and we wish you well in the position.

As the new commissioner, we want to make you aware that we have been sending letters to your predecessor Dr. Ostroff regarding our request to end the "flush list".  We wanted to make sure you had this letter directly.  The only response we have had to date from the FDA is the letter attached to state Dr. Ostroff had asked the Office of Policy, Planning and Legislation to respond to us.  To date we have had no further response.

We urge you to prioritize this problem of safe disposal of medicines for the reasons outlined in the letter.  With 111 sign-ons we would hope this would add some weight to the request  - there is a problem and you can fix it.  We are available to discuss the issue anytime.

Subject: UPDATE: Additions to Joint Sign-On Letter to FDA Regarding Ending Advice to Flush Medicines and Asking Federal Agencies to Harmonize Messaging on Safe Medicine Disposal

Dear Mr. Ostroff:

Since we originally sent the letter February 2nd, we have updated and resent it February 12th and added another five sign-ons by last Friday:

1. Beth McCann, Colorado House District 8, Chair, Health, Insurance and Environment Committee

2. Crisanta Duran, Colorado House District 5, Majority Leader, Colorado House of Representatives

3. Faith Winter, Colorado House District 35

4. Mary Hodge, Colorado Senate District 25

5. Nancy Todd, Colorado Senate District 28

The current number of sign-ons to the letter is 111 organizations and individuals. We will continue to accept sign-ons and send updates every few weeks.
