Apologies for X posting

Dear colleagues,

For those of us who followed the SAICM process, know that the German Environment Agency has been instrumental in collecting data about global extend of pharma pollution. They have now published a short briefing: Pharmaceuticals in the environment – the global perspective, Occurrence, effects, and potential cooperative action under SAICM in 5 languages, German, English, French, Spanish and Chinese to explain the issue and give some short recommendations: https://www.umweltbundesamt.de/publikationen/pharmaceuticals-in-the-environment-the-global

You can help by spreading the news and challenge your governments in what action they are taking to address the issue, because, 196 countries voted on it in Geneva October 2015, accepting that pharma pollution is an emerging issue (SAICM speak, we have a problem). By 2020 at the next SAICM meeting they have to show that they have done something, albeit voluntary, you can push and demand action from your government. The SAICM agreement has to be filled with life, so in 4 years time there is less pollution from pharmaceuticals.

Contact us if you would like to get involved.

Best wishes
Anja
