[Pharmwaste] Amended DEA-Registrations Allowing for Controlled Substance Collection

Hi all:

One of our bin hosts, Dr. Janet Dumonchelle with Sacramento State Pharmacy told us a similar story. Fast, easy and free. The hard part is finding a reverse distributor to collect the medications for any price that is near reasonable.

Greg,

We have heard from several hospitals and other locations that have modified their DEA registrations to reflect "collector" status. It is very easy and takes about 15 minutes. As I understand since this is done all on line, the registrant is able to print a copy of their amended license immediately.

Hope this helps!

Dave

Hello,

I was wondering if any pharmacy subscribers to this listserv have gone through the DEA-registration amendment process to allow them to collect controlled substances in collection receptacles.

If so, would anyone like to comment on the ease of DEA's on-line amendment process and tell how long it took from the time of submission of an amendment application to receipt of DEA's acknowledgment that the amendment was approved?

Thanks.
