The Yellow Jug Old Drugs Program has welcomed the increased need for our services to properly collect and dispose of Rx-Waste. Every year since 2008 when we started the Program, the average weight collected by pharmacies increases. In 2015 the average was 198.15 lbs of drug waste (Rx-waste only no
packaging). The number of participating pharmacies also continues to increase. To respond to the increased need and to prepare our program for what we believe will soon be an even greater increase in our program, we are taking a major step to increase our shipping capacity. Collection Jugs for new pharmacies and additional jugs for participating pharmacies previously had been
shipped out from us in-house utilizing a combination of staff and volunteers. To meet the growing demand and improve efficiency we have contracted with www.Efulfillment.com Service in Traverse City Michigan to provide our shipping services. This will provide our customers with Amazon-Like sophistication in ordering, confirming and tracking orders for additional collection
materials. Orders for materials will then be placed online directly from a shipping Icon on our website. This new ordering method will be the most time efficient for pharmacy staff, GLCW/USCW admin staff and is also the most cost-effective solution to meet the increased shipping demands. The goal of Great Lakes Clean Water/US Clean Water is to operate the Yellow Jug Old Drugs Program at the lowest cost while providing extraordinary and professional customer service to encourage as many pharmacies as possible to participate. Instituting this new shipping method is one way of
demonstrating our commitment to clean water and safe communities by making drug disposal inexpensive, easy and efficient. We will continue to use the GLCW/USCW warehouse in Oscoda MI to receive shipments. This site is approved by the DEA to store collected controlled substances under our Reverse Distributor License.
Planning is underway to add an additional receiving warehouse in Detroit, MI
This new improved ordering and shipping will go live by 3.15.16
