In a split decision, the LA Board of Supervisors voted for an industry supported bill in which industry will fund four take back events per year, study the results of the Walgreen collection effort, and create an education campaign that includes trash disposal information. County public health officials oppose trash disposal.

Any consideration of an EPR bill for medications and sharps has been pushed back to at least November.

Supervisor Antonovich, who proposed the EPR bill, switched his support. He wants immidiate action and cited the fact that counties that passed EPR bills still don't have programs in place. It seems industries obstructionism has been rewarded.
