Subject: Sonoma County Board of Supervisors 10/4/16 Study Session on development of pharma EPR ordinance
Pharmaceuticals Listserv,
Today the Sonoma Board of Supervisors held a study session on options for safe medicine disposal programs and the potential development of an EPR ordinance for pharmaceuticals at their public meeting<http://sonoma-county.granicus.com/GeneratedAgendaViewer.php?view_id=2&event_id=662> (Item #21 on the linked agenda).
Following an informative staff presentation, questions from the Supervisors, and public comment, the four Supervisors in attendance (Susan Gorin, Shirlee Zane, Efren Carrillo, and James Gore) expressed strong support and directed staff to develop an ordinance for medicines and to explore including sharps. No formal vote was taken.
Staff indicated they will continue to engage the cities and other local stakeholders and return to the Board by the end of 2016 with a more fleshed out proposal.
CPSC recorded the study session and uploaded to Youtube. We encourage you to watch – https://youtu.be/D3MINu60jfg
