Hi Sean,
I post items of note that come to me via standing key word searchs. Would you care to suggest some key words that I can add to capture a more complete picture? Maybe, "home disposal of pharmaceuticals"? Thanks!

Why is it that “take back” seems to be the consistent push on this forum? My overall impression is that posts seem to spotlight take back efforts or lack thereof, while not considering the countless ways we need to combat the prescription drug abuse and pharmaceutical waste problems in our country. What has led us to believe that take back is the best or in some minds, the only option?
Please educate me on what I’m missing here. Or, if I’m misinterpreting the overall tone of this forum, please accept my apology.

"In an address to a joint session of the state House and Senate, Wolf urged quick action on a package of legislation designed to combat opioid and heroin addiction."

Gov. office lists six concepts he supports that are in bills before legislature. Take back not among them.
-- Require prescribers to check the state's Prescription Drug Monitoring Database every time they prescribe opioids
-- Limit the opioid quantities prescribed to emergency room patients to seven days
-- Require medical professionals to receive updated education about opioids and pain management
-- Require public school students to be taught about opioid misuse
-- Require insurers to provide coverage of abuse deterrent opioid formulations
Gov. Wolfs speech to the joint session does mention take back,
"Ordinary Pennsylvanians wanted to know how they could help.
We heard them, so together we are helping communities properly dispose of unused and unwanted prescriptions through a drug take-back program.
There are nearly 520 take-back boxes located at police stations across Pennsylvania, and we have collected and destroyed over 145 thousand pounds of prescription drugs including opioids.
Together, we have taken important steps to stop this crisis in Pennsylvania."
