[Pharmwaste] SB 212: California Statewide Medication & Needle EPR Bill 6/26 ESTM Hearing Outcome

Safe Medicine and Needle Disposal Supporters:

SB 212<http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201720180SB212> (Jackson/Ting) was heard in the Assembly Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials (ESTM) Committee on Tuesday and passed out of the committee with at 5-1 vote, with one vote not recorded. It was referred to the Assembly Committee on Appropriations<http://apro.assembly.ca.gov/>, but Chair Quirk said that he will ask for the bill to come back to Assembly ESTM in early August once some of the outstanding issues have been worked out. Therefore, there will be 4-6 weeks of intensive negotiations will all stakeholders, which should begin next week.

Please thank the legislators that voted in favor of the bill and communicate with all legislators to express your desire that the bill move forward in the future. Please also thank Chair Quirk for his thoughtful commentary on the need for this bill.
