[Pharmwaste] FW: Vaccine Disposal

Hi Everyone,

While neither vaccine has a preservative that would make it RCRA haz, where
are you all falling on infectious or regulated medical waste? The vaccines
don’t have live or attenuated virus, but rather templates to code for the
viral “arms” and then antibodies are formed to that. (My understanding that
is).

Here in MN, then, the vaccine is technically not infectious waste. Although
I suspect most facilities will managed it as IW/RMW.

Also, where are you all on antigen tests or specimens such as saliva?

It will be interesting to hear your perspectives?

Very truly yours,

Hello and Happy New Year,

I read an earlier post that Moderna Covid-19 Vaccine does not need to be
treated as a hazardous waste.

In New Hampshire, we are anticipating primary use of Pfizer so I’m wondering
if there is information about proper disposal of this drug and other
vaccines that may appear.

Any references would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
