I agree the 2-hour WEF broadcast is expensive, but
we've been able to find some alternatives here in Colorado. Through a collaborative
organization (Consortium for Research and Education on Emerging Contaminants
(CREEC)) that we're building here in Colorado we've been able to establish
a relationship with some of our wastewater districts that are WEF members.
Denver Metro Wastewater Reclamation District has been very generous in
opening up their WEF broadcasts on emerging contaminants to members of
our Consortium. Perhaps similar arrangements could be made in your area
with a WEF member?

kinda tough (impossible) for us gummint types to justify $189 for a 2 hr
phone call. wish the wef would back off some of their proud fees.
i'd
attend their conferences and listen in to these teleconferences if so.

anyone have any clout with 'em? there's a huge crowd of us out there
they're eliminating from their knowledge pool by charging so much for
their "services".
Emerging Contaminants (ECs) are receiving increased regulatory attention
due to environmentally significant concentrations of many contaminants
being detected in treated effluents. These issues are quickly becoming
more prevalent in the water and wastewater industry. Participants of
this webcast will learn the present state of knowledge on ECs to include
what is known, what knowledge gaps exist, and what lies ahead.

Specific Topics Include:

*
Impact of Emerging Contaminants on the water cycle
*
Fate of Emerging Contaminants in wastewater treatment
*
Removal mechanisms and potential engineered solutions
*
Impact on biosolids processing and disposal
*
Technical and institutional challenges

Moderator:

Dr. Sam Jeyanayagam, Malcolm Pirnie, Inc.

Speakers:
