In 2014, CO passed funding for take back programs; $300K approved for 2015-16 budget.<br>

After DEA rule finalized, CO Dept. Public Health & Environment brought state rules in line with DEA rule.<br>

"but it’s at least, initially, having an inverse effect, as some of these partner organizations remove their programs to avoid dealing with narcotics."  As of June 21, only the only drop off site left in Summit County, CO will be the Sheriff's Office.

The pharmacies that are closing their boxes will begin to sell 3rd party mail back envelopes for $4 each.<br>

“Ongoing take-back programs are the most convenient, cost-effective and secure way to dispose of our unwanted and expired medicines,” said Wineland, director of Summit County Public Health. “Now that King Soopers is pulling out of taking medications back, that

 leaves us with a significant step back in our efforts.” <br>
