This is a pharmaceutical manufacturer financed and operated program under our 2018 state law. It has been gratifying and exciting to see so many more secure drug drop boxes available in pharmacies, clinics, and hospitals throughout our state, including in rural areas that previously only had a drop box at a police station. Also prepaid return mailers available to residents. Info about the program and the law is on the WA Dept. of Health website: https://www.doh.wa.gov/ForPublicHealthandHealthcareProviders/HealthcareProfessionsandFacilities/SafeMedicationReturnProgram

Oregon will have a similar program up and running soon. OR DEQ approved a program plan from manufacturers in May and it must be operational by July 1.
