As of December 30, 2016, an Administrative Law Judge invalidated a proposed pollution notification rule promulgated by the Department, which required owners of installations throughout the State of Florida report pollution events to the local government as well as a local media outlet to notify the general public of the event. Protecting Florida's pristine environment is our top priority and DEP will continue the public pollution notification process to ensure all Floridians and visitors are notified of pollution incidents. Moving forward the notification process from the Department may change, however it was imperative that the notification to the public continued seamlessly. The incident below was reported to the State Watch Office and is being forwarded to you because the event has occurred in your area. Per John Ward (Clay County EM) the scene has been cleared and it was discovered the material was non-hazardous. The scene has been turned over to OSHA for further investigation.

Initial Report: An unknown amount of aerosol pesticide, that is believed to have been under-diluted, released at a produce facility in Green Cover Springs. Caller advised there are currently seven patients being reported, four of which have been transported to an area medical center by private ambulance services. The exact cause of the incident is yet to be determined, however, the facility is in the process of being cleared out at this time. Clay County FR and their HazMat units are currently on scene evaluating additional employees of the facility. There has been no request for state assistance.
