[Pollution.Notice]

As of December 31, 2016, an Administrative Law Judge invalidated a proposed pollution notification rule promulgated by the Department, which required owners of installations throughout the State of Florida report pollution events to the local government as well as local media outlets to notify the general public of the event.  Protecting Florida's pristine environment is our top priority and DEP will continue the public notification process to ensure all Floridians and visitors are notified of pollution incidents.  Moving forward the notification process may change, however it was imperative  that the notification to the public continued seamlessly.  The incident below was reported to the State Watch Office and is being forwarded to you because the event occurred in your area. Initial Report: At least 20 gallons of diesel have spilled from a box truck, near the intersection listed below in Frostproof, due to a minor vehicle crash. Caller stated the ruptured saddle tank is still actively leaking fuel, and the on-scene Polk Co FR units are attempting to keep it contained. Caller also advised the trucking company has already notified a private contractor, who is currently en route.
