As of December 30, 2016, an Administrative Law Judge invalidated a proposed pollution notification rule promulgated by the Department, which required owners of installations throughout the State of Florida report pollution events to the local government as well as a local media outlet to notify the general public of the event. Protecting Florida's pristine environment is our top priority and DEP will continue the public pollution notification process to ensure all Floridians and visitors are notified of pollution incidents. Moving forward the notification process from the Department may change, however it was imperative that the notification to the public continued seamlessly. The incident below was reported to the State Watch Office and is being forwarded to you because the event has occurred in your area. Per Philip Stark with HAZMAT One (800-229-5252-1): HAZMAT One represents the responsible party (YRC Inc) reference clean-up. The spill was 40 gallons. Some of the release flowed into a water filled ditch. Spill was contained in the ditch. No other waterways affected. Clean-up conducted by SWS.

Initial Report: Three southbound lanes of I-95 are closed just north of exit 42 in Deerfield Beach due to a vehicle crash involving a semi-truck. Caller advised approximately 40-50 gallons of diesel have leaked from the truck. No waterways were impacted by the spill. Only minor injuries were reported, and no fires resulted from the crash. Broward Co FR, FHP, and FDOT all currently have units on scene.
