As of December 30, 2016, an Administrative Law Judge invalidated a proposed pollution notification rule promulgated by the Department, which required owners of installations throughout the State of Florida report pollution events to the local government as well as a local media outlet to notify the general public of the event. Protecting Florida's pristine environment is our top priority and DEP will continue the public pollution notification process to ensure all Floridians and visitors are notified of pollution incidents. Moving forward the notification process from the Department may change, however it was imperative that the notification to the public continued seamlessly. The incident below was reported to the State Watch Office and is being forwarded to you because the event has occurred in your area. Initial Report: Greenfield's Management Services reports a residual wastewater release of 25 tons near the location below in Kenansville due to a dump truck transport accident. The release did not enter any storm drains or waterways and has ceased. A vac truck was used to reload the waste and a private contractor completed further clean-up.

Initial Report: ERTS represents the responsible party, Republic Services, for a hydraulic fluid release in Poinciana. The release was due to a mechanical failure on a trash truck which resulted in a 35 gallon release that was secured shortly after it occurred. A small residential ditch was affected by the release. Super Wash is enroute to handle cleanup actions for this release.
