There is no merge function by that name - its now in the toolbox, either
Arctoolbox > Analysis Tools > Overlay > Union or Arctoolbox > Data
Management Tools > General > Append (Back to Arc/Info nomenclature).=20

ArcGIS 8.x had a feature in the geoprocessor that allow you to
merge features together (in this case shapefiles). Since the release of
ArcGIS 9.0, the geoprocessing functions have been added to the toolbox.
Where is the merge feature in toolbox? I know as I write this, that I
am sure to find it, but if anyone has any insight into the location
and/or name of this tool, please let me know. I would really appreciate
it.
