I believe the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission used GIS to analyze
statewide land cover for=20

=20

Cox, J., R. Kautz, M. MacLaughlin, and T. Gilbert. 1994. Closing the =
Gaps
in Florida's Wildlife Habitat Conservation System. Florida Game and =
Fresh
Water Fish Commission, Tallahassee.

=20

Randy Kautz, I believe, still works there, so Mike Grella may want to =
contact
him.

=20

I was recently contacted by Mike Grella of the Jupiter Inlet District =
who
asked the following question: "Are you aware of anyone who has used GIS =
to
analyze land cover on a statewide basis, focusing on ecosystem types =
(i.e.,
freshwater, wetlands, mangrove swamp, pine forest, etc.)?

=20

A colleague (David Fann) found evidence of such analyses for regions (in
state) or localities, but nothing statewide.=20

=20

Any leads (e.g., citations, websites) that you can provide would be =
greatly
appreciated.

=20

Thanks

Bob Swett
