Florida Department of Environmental Protection is currently accepting
applications for a full-time Environmental Specialist II (OPS) position. =

This is a full time technical and professional position in the Ground =
Water
Protection Section to support the State's Watershed Management Program.  =
The
primary responsibilities include the following:

*         Support in management of ground water quality data using =
EXCEL,
ACCESS and other software tools;

*         Support in conducting basin-wide and focused ground water =
quality
assessments;

*         Use of GIS in managing and displaying data used in assessments =
and
some data analysis depending on ability;

*         Creating draft and final maps using ArcGIS and map production
software for technical reports and presentations;=20

*         Conducting literature research in support of ground =
water-surface
water studies; and

*         Writing and compiling portions of technical documents.   =20

Knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant should include =
knowledge of
geology, water quality and natural systems in Florida; experience in =
data
base management support; advanced skill in use of the above-mentioned
computer applications; and excellent technical writing skills.  =
Experience in
ground water and surface water quality assessments is preferred.  =
Applicant
must be able to work with a team, plan, organize, and prioritize their =
work
assignments accordingly. The successful applicant must have good
interpersonal skills and be able and willing to communicate =
professionally
and effectively both verbally and in writing with the general public, =
other
government agencies, and co-workers.  Minimum qualifications: a =
bachelor's
degree in a natural science and 2 years professional experience.=20

This position is located in Tallahassee and is currently vacant.  =
