Look into DNRGarmin from here:
http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/mis/gis/tools/arcview/extensions/DNRGarmin/DNRGarmin.html
It has worked with all Garmin versions I have tried. It runs standalone
or as an ArcView 3.x extension it has more capability. You may have to
have ArcView 3.x to be able to save as a shapefile but I am not sure.
