Eric,
=20
If they don't have the photos already, they might want them. Or they may
be only interested in whole rolls; I dunno. That's up to Dr. Armstrong
and the good folks that work for her, of course. But I think it's a very
nice idea.=20
=20
I know they want to get their photos digital and serve them up via the
internet, so maybe you could arrange to have a contract helper go down
there, scan the maps, FTP them or write them to disk, georeference them
for your people, then provide the digital version back to them when
you're done. I think Dr. Armstrong is retiring this summer, so it'd be
worthwhile to check into it sooner rather than later.
=20
For more info on the UF Map Library, the products they already have
on-line, etc., see:
    http://web.uflib.ufl.edu/maps/
=20
Their coverage info for imagery, by county, is located at:
   http://web.uflib.ufl.edu/maps/Aerials/MAPNEWAERIAL.HTML
=20
The web development effort probably starts and stops as they get free
help and then lose it, but I was suprised to learn that they have a
Sanborn maps and coastal maps from the 1880s and 1850s, respectively.
Very cool.

PS: Say hi to Candace for me. She interned with me about a decade ago; I
think she works up there with you now.

Bill,

What a great idea. We order SCS photos from the National Archives on a
regular basis. After we scan them and reference them, the photos are
filed. Could we donate these to the Map Library? =20

Better yet, could Geoplan serve up digital versions of the files that
are scanned and referenced? (Easy for me to say....)

Jim and Kathleen and fellow shruggies,=20

I'd like to suggest maybe an "historic aerial photos" contact list for
the state; sort of a statewide working group.=20

We have a sizeable collection of aerials (1943 to present, often two
years per decade) here at the District, and UF Map Library has got a
huge batch of historic aerials, some from FDOT, some from Department of
Citrus, SCS, etc. This is a resource that only gets more valuable with
time.=20

Plus, we (Map Library and SJRWMD) both have 1200 DPI scanners and CD
burners, so that people can come help themselves to the resource (with a
little guidance, of course).=20

If anyone's interested in putting together a statewide aerial photo
resource webpage or working group, or if anyone has already, this might
be a good time and place to create/share it.=20

Okay, all. Who is the FDOT contact for historic aerials. I should
have this name in my contacts database but I don't. A cohort from the
US Fish and Wildlife Services is needing some aerials and could use the
name of the contact.=20

As always, I know everyone of you probably have this right at your

thanks, in advance.=20
