I am having a problem running ArcGIS 9.1 lately, and was wondering if anyone
in SHRUG has had this problem.
I am working with ESRI tech support to resolve it, but thought I'd ask the
user community just in case.
The problem is this: I can't open existing mxd files, and I can't do a
"File-Save As". Other than that, I can start a new map document, add
layers, symbolize, make a map, print it, etc. But not being able to open
existing mxds or create new ones is a real problem.
When it crashes, the following error messages pop up:
"ArcMap has encountered a prolem and needs to close". I get 2 of these,
then followed by:
"The instruction at "0x569ccf7" recerenced memory at "0x05050444". The
memory could not be "read".
This particular problem occurs on a laptop (Dell Inspiron 8600) that
previously ran ArcGIS 8.3, 9.0 and 9.1 without any problems.
So far, I have removed and reinstalled a number of times, including a
complete manual uninstall and reinstall.
If anyone else has had this problem with Open or Save As, please reply to me
at mgarriga@cfl.rr.com. I will post a summary to the list.
Thanks !
