The Florida Natural Areas Inventory is advertising the following position:
CONSERVATION DATA SERVICES COORDINATOR
Closing Date: September 30, 2005
The Data Services Coordinator is responsible for preparing responses to
requests for information from government agencies, private consultants,
and the public. The Coordinator will create maps, reports, spreadsheets,
and data files for public requests and other staff projects. The
Coordinator will work with the public to answer questions and determine
how the Inventory can be most helpful. The Coordinator will also track
trends in requests over time, producing reports and assisting with the
development of new data and/or map products to meet public needs. This
position will also assist with database management, data acquisition,
and map production to support a variety of FNAI projects.
Qualifications:
A bachelors degree in an environment-related field, such as biology,
geography, environmental planning, or environmental science, is
required. Basic GIS experience, including ESRI ArcView and/or ArcGIS,
along with general experience with a variety of software in a Windows
format, are required. Attention to detail and concern for accuracy are
important. Skills with relational databases, cartography, and/or graphic
design are helpful.
This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with scientists and
planners, interact with environmental professionals throughout the
state, and gain experience with wildlife conservation, natural resource
management, and land use planning issues.
