shrug-l: Floodplains

I would like to calculate the extent of the floodplain using GIS. I
believe models like ArcHydro and HEC-RAS can do it, but the amount of
data-mining and effort may not be worth the effort at this stage. Are
there any ArcHydro users out there?

Greetings!
If you are talking about the federal flood insurance designations,
the whole works sets on their web site (map by map). There is also a
shape file of the flood zones in Florida (I have seen it). In term of
"floodplains" the question is who is making the determination.
